Greater safety when braking right from the start
Our unique COTEC coating is fitted as standard to all our car and light commercial brake pads. It is an advanced silicate coating applied to the friction material of replacement brake pads, which provides increased contact between the pad and the brake disc, even during the running-in period (i.e. during the first few braking operations after a pad change, when the friction coefficient is lower than normal). This ensures that your customers get the best from their front and rear brake pad changes the moment they leave the workshop.

The importance of friction material in brake pads is significant and thanks to our in-house compound production we are able to obtain the perfect combination of raw materials, from rubber to graphite, to provide the safest brake pad performance in all conditions.
Our scorching techniques heat the pads up to 600-700 o C, which helps reduce break-in time and initial fade. Automatic stamping presses allow us to use single press-forming technology for greater uniformity of material density and porosity. This allows drivers who install our brake pads on their vehicles to ride more comfortably due to the significant reduction in vibration and noise.
Respect for the environment
TRW introduced one of the first eco-friendly brake pad programmes for cars in Europe, meaning no harmful materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, antimony, brass or molybdenum are ever used.
