The new Dacia Sandero continues to win over drivers across Europe thanks to its affordable price and modern design. However, like all cars, the new Sandero is not without its flaws. In this article, we clearly and in detail analyze the main problems encountered by users and mechanics , to help you make an informed choice.
✅ Introduction to the new Dacia Sandero
The third-generation Dacia Sandero has been completely revamped in terms of design and technological features. Available in petrol, LPG , and mild hybrid versions, it represents an excellent compromise between price and functionality. But what do owners say after the first few months of use?
⚠️ 1. Problems with electronics and infotainment
One of the most critical points reported concerns the on-board electronics , in particular:
-
Multimedia system sometimes slow or frozen
-
Touch screen that does not respond promptly
-
Intermittent connection with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
-
Parking sensor problems (false alarms or malfunctions)
Many users have resolved these issues with software updates, but it's good to know that they can occur within the first few months of use.
⚠️ 2. Suspension a little stiff
The new Sandero is designed to be economical, and this is also reflected in the suspension calibration , which is:
-
Stiff on bumps and rough roads
-
Less comfortable on long journeys or in the city with cobblestones
This aspect is particularly evident in the Stepway version, slightly raised, which tends to transmit the imperfections of the terrain more to the passenger compartment.

⚠️ 3. Improved interior quality but still “basic”
Despite the evolution, some owners have highlighted:
-
Inexpensive materials , especially in the basic versions
-
Rigid and easily scratched plastics
-
Poor soundproofing at highway speeds
Those looking for an affordable city car often accept these compromises, but it's important to understand them before purchasing.

⚠️ 4. Manual transmission is not very precise
Many users complain that:
-
Manual transmission isn't always smooth
-
Shifts may feel stiff or imprecise, especially in lower gears
-
Some units have had clutch system problems already under 20,000 km
This problem can also depend on driving style and maintenance, but it has been reported often enough to deserve attention.

⚠️ 5. LPG system problems (for Bi-Fuel versions)
Those who choose the Dacia Sandero LPG save a lot on fuel, but may encounter some drawbacks, including:
-
Automatic switching from LPG to petrol even with a full tank
-
Cold starts are difficult in winter
-
Power loss when accelerating on gas
In some cases it was necessary to replace the LPG pressure reducer or update the control unit.

🔧 Maintenance and warranty: plus points
Despite the problems listed, the Dacia Sandero remains one of the easiest and most economical cars to maintain . Furthermore, the 3-year or 100,000 km warranty covers many of the most common problems.
The Dacia-Renault network is well distributed across the territory, and spare parts are generally cheap and available.

The answer is: it depends on your needs .
If you're looking for a new, reliable car for your daily commute and an excellent value, the Sandero could be a smart choice. However, if you're very demanding in terms of comfort, trim, or performance, you might want to consider other alternatives.
📌 Conclusions
The new Dacia Sandero represents an economical and modern solution for many drivers. However, knowing the main problems allows you to:
-
Avoid unpleasant surprises
-
Know what to look for when buying or test driving
-
Better organize preventive maintenance
As always, the opinion of your trusted mechanic can be useful in assessing the condition of the car, especially if it is a used Sandero.
